This past weekend I joined my mom and brother in a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo. Since my brother is turning 10 next week, I decided to bring my camera for a few birthday headshots at the zoo.
The weather was gorgeous! Sunny and 80 degrees made for a beautiful day at the zoo. First, we walked by the giraffes and hippos for some photos. Blake was determined to find the tigers, so he grabbed the map and led us on.
The zoo is filled with blooming cherry blossoms this time of year, which made for some beautiful backdrops of course.
We ended up walking past the bears first, and then eventually ended up at a beautiful fountain. Surrounding the fountain were geese inhabiting the space. I wanted Blake to get closer for a photo with one, but he was too scared.
Right before the tigers, there is an attraction called the Tree House. Of course we were interested and decided to stop in. The building is a giant indoor playground featuring larger than life rainforest creatures for kids to play on. Blake had a blast and insisted on posing with everything for a photo.
Next we ventured to the lions and tigers. The lions were sleeping in the shade but we were lucky enough to see a tiger up close.
After that we headed towards the petting zoo. Blake was able to brush some of the goats as they hung out and ate.
We picked up some souvenirs, and of course Blake wanted a tiger stuffed animal to take home. For the remainder of the day, he carried around "tigey 3" and made sure to include him in all of the photos.
After walking through the gorilla sanctuary, we got some ice cream and sat in the shade. Blake and I coordinated a few more sunset shots before we left. He insisted on dangling himself from a tree branch for a few photos. We had a blast and can't wait to go back.
